VALE – Roderick McKillop (1950-2025)

It is with much sadness that I write to share with you the news that a much loved member of our Peninsula Grammar community, Mr. Roderick McKillop, passed away late on 2 December after a short battle with illness.

Roderick’s connection with the school extended over 64 years. He was a founding student of The Peninsula School, graduating in 1968. He was a Prefect, Vice Captain of Country House, First XVIII Football player, Tennis captain and Cadet Under Officer.

He returned to Peninsula in 1982 and served 31 years of exemplary service as a teacher in the Junior School. During this time he was Senior Master and also taught one of the first co-ed classes when girls joined the school.

Since his retirement in 2013 Roderick has been a regular visitor to Peninsula Grammar, returning as special guest at Foundation Days where he proudly presented the scholarship named in his honour each year. He also supported many alumni events, including the recent past staff reunion where he delivered a heartfelt and well received speech.

Roderick’s legacy at Peninsula Grammar extends well beyond the gates of the school. A Master Teacher, and Hall of Fame inductee (2015), Roderick has left an indelible mark on the lives of thousands of students, staff and families and will be forever missed by all those who knew him.

Our Chapel of Resurrection will be open for a time of reflection on Thursday 4 December from 2:00 – 6:00 PM.
