Our school grounds were dedicated by Archbishop Woods on 5 March 1960, and we have maintained a strong and fruitful association with the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne ever since, especially our local Anglican Church at Mount Eliza. Our first Principal, the Reverend Dr. Dudley Clarke, instilled an Anglican ethos that has provided our school with a sure foundation and an enduring sense of purpose, and sits at the heart of all we do.
Year levels gather regularly during the school year in our Chapel of the Resurrection to hear lessons from the Bible and to reflect upon their meaning and their application to our lives. They are complemented with prayer, singing and a time for quiet reflection.
Similarly, our assemblies present opportunities for learning about the Christian faith and supporting each other and our broader community in prayer.
Across year levels, classes are dedicated each week to explore areas such as philosophy and wisdom literature; how ancient stories shape our worldview; the importance of ethics to instil and develop courage in order to ‘hold fast to that which is good’; and the contributions of both Christianity and other major faiths to our diverse world.
We want to nurture and develop students to be confident and have a sense of real purpose, while also possessing and exercising the qualities of humility, respect, compassion and service.
