Challenging Me

Year 9

Our Challenging Me program recognises the need to engage Year 9 students differently. In this critical year level, where students make the crucial transition from the Middle School to the Senior School program, learning is relevant, relationships are supportive, and our students develop lifelong learning skills and a curiosity for self-discovery.

The program is centred around Challenge Blocks which see our students step outside both the traditional classroom and their personal comfort zone and turn ‘I can’t’ into ‘I can’. A coherent program incorporates student experience with classroom practice, making student learning relevant and engaging.

Academics

The Pre Senior School academic program has been created based on extensive research on how best to cater for the needs of adolescent learners. Working with a dedicated team of collaborative teachers, the program encourages students to explore the breadth of study pathways available to them, and through engagement in a multidisciplinary course, make meaningful connections between disciplines and apply their learning to the outside world.

As students prepare to make the crucial transition into the Senior School, they are engaged in learning the key knowledge and skills principles that underpin the F-10 Victorian Curriculum, where they will learn to “become lifelong learners, confident individuals, and active and informed citizens” (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, 2024).
