Frozen Jr. | Celebrating a Magical Production
What a way to round out a vibrant and exciting term in Performing Arts!
Last week, our Middle School students took audiences on a magical journey to the world of Disney’s Frozen Jr., bringing the beloved story to life with energy, heart, and an extraordinary level of professionalism. Across three performances, the stage was filled with memorable moments, beautiful music, and an incredible sense of ensemble. The feedback from our audiences has been nothing but glowing, with so many families and community members commenting on the confidence, commitment, and sheer quality of the performances.
A production of this scale does not happen without a strong community behind it. At the heart of Frozen Jr. was our amazing student cast, who gave so much of themselves throughout the rehearsal and performance process. From learning choreography and harmonies to developing characters, refining scenes, and supporting one another, their growth across the production was wonderful to watch. We were continually reminded of just how capable our Middle School students are when they are given the opportunity to challenge themselves, take creative risks, and work towards something they can be proud of.
Our backstage students were equally integral to the success of the production. From technical elements and set changes to props, costumes, puppets, and all of the many jobs that happen behind the curtain, their focus and dedication helped create the magical world our audiences experienced. Theatre is a true team effort, and our students embraced the responsibility of being part of something much bigger than themselves.
None of this would have been possible without the contribution and care of our staff. We are incredibly grateful to every staff member who contributed their time, skills, and encouragement, as well as to our wider school community for supporting our students throughout the process.
We are so lucky to have such a unique opportunity for our Middle School students to learn, grow, and develop their passion for the Performing Arts. Productions such as Frozen Jr. allow students to build skills in performance, collaboration, leadership, creativity, and resilience, while also experiencing the immense satisfaction that comes from creating something together. What they achieve is truly remarkable, and there were many moments throughout this production when we had to remind ourselves that the performers on stage were between the ages of just 9 and 14. The result was a production that felt genuinely professional, while still capturing the joy, enthusiasm, and youthful spirit that makes Middle School theatre so special.
Most importantly, Frozen Jr. gave our students a place to belong, to challenge themselves, and to discover just how much they can achieve when they work together. We could not be prouder of every student who stepped onto the stage, worked behind the scenes, supported a friend, learned something new, or contributed to the production in their own way.
As we celebrate the wonderful success of Frozen Jr., we now look forward to what comes next. Our Senior School Production of Pippin will commence rehearsals at the beginning of Term 4, bringing a new cast, new creative challenges, and another exciting chapter in our Performing Arts program.
