Facilities

Jaffray House

Boarders at Peninsula Grammar live in the Boarding precinct known as Jaffray House. One wing is for male Boarders and the other for female Boarders.

A tight knit community, Boarders are in shared rooms of two to four, until Year 11. Year 12 students are prioritised for their own room. Bathrooms are shared, located close to dormitories. Jaffray House has several common rooms and relaxation spaces. These spaces provide opportunities for Boarders to connect, socialise and unwind after school and on weekends. In these common areas, Boarders have access to streaming services such as Netflix, games, and food preparation spaces, providing a chance to relax while also gaining independent living skills.

Common areas are coeducational, allowing students to socialise with all Boarders from all over the world. Dormitories and bathrooms are single sex.

Study

Study is a priority for Boarders at Peninsula Grammar. Structured study time, which is known as ‘prep’ occurs Monday-Thursday evenings and is supervised by qualified teachers to allow students to access support for their homework and assignments. All Boarders are expected to do at least 2 hours of prep each day, with students in Years 11 and 12 expected to do at least 3 or more hours each day. Study occurs in a separate learning centre, located next to the Boarding House.

The Head of Boarding meets with students regularly to discuss their academic progress and set academic goals for each semester.

Meals and Food

Peninsula Grammar has onsite caterers who provide fresh, tasty meals for our Boarders each day. The menu is reviewed by nutritionists to ensure that meals are balanced, healthy, and support adolescent growth and development. Boarders are provided with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as morning and afternoon tea each day.

Once a month, the Boarding community comes together to celebrate Boarders’ birthdays. A special themed meal is prepared by the kitchen, and each student receives a dessert on their birthday.

Peninsula Grammar can cater to a variety of dietary needs, which should be discussed during enrolment.
