Lionel comes to us as an International platinum- selling recording artist, music producer, composer and pianist best known for his work with music group Gypsy and the Cat. Lionel found his passion for music at a young age and quickly became quite the child prodigy in classical music. At the age of 14, he received his LMusA (the ‘Licentiate in Music, Australia’ is a diploma awarded to outstanding candidates in the fields of musical performance and music theory) and, throughout his adolescence, was honoured with numerous awards in National piano competitions. After completing his secondary schooling, Lionel went on to learn music production and also tried his hand at DJing before discovering a love for songwriting (some of Lionel’s internationally-acclaimed hits include ‘Jona Vark’ and ‘Time to Wander’). His writing contributed to the securing of a record deal and Lionel’s career in the music industry was solidified from that point on. As well as receiving several ARIA nominations, Lionel’s music also featured internationally in commercials which gave him the exposure that allowed him, with Gypsy and the Cat, to tour extensively overseas. Staff profile Lionel Tower Songwriting has continued to be a passion and a well- honed skill for Lionel who has gone on to record, write and produce records with internationally-acclaimed artists such as Sia, David Guetta, Ruby Rose and Danni Minogue to name just a few. Lionel hopes to inspire students to maximise their potential through a set of comprehensive techniques he has developed over two decades in the music industry. “I’m very excited to be working with The Peninsula School on this exciting new program as I get to explore so many different genres with each student and so far I am thoroughly enjoying it”. As well as receiving several ARIA nominations, Lionel’s music also featured internationally in commercials which gave him the exposure that allowed him, with Gypsy and the Cat, to tour extensively overseas.
