I competed in a range of events like skierX, skiGS, snowboarderX and snowboard GS. It was a great week. Day 1 Today is the big day for me because I have my first big race. I am up bright and early to start the day with skiGS. I’m in the race starting gates ready to go and in a blink of an eye I’m gone, racing down the course and over the finish line with a time of 55.5 seconds. Day 2 The next day I’m back at it with skierX. I’m up again bright and early ready to go and all pumped up. I have my race face on when I enter the start gates and off I go flying like an eagle and across the line with a time of 40.74 seconds. My ranking is 108 out of 160. I had such a good day. Day 3 Next up snowboarderX. I’m one of the first competitors to go. I can say snowboarderX is not my favourite, I would rather GS! Anyway, I’m in the start and out I go through the gate around the first berm. Unfortunately after the second berm I fall over but I pick myself up and just keep on going because I know that I have to finish the race. Finally I am over the finish line with a time of 48.35. I was very disappointed with myself but sometimes you just have to go with it. I race off home for some food and race back out there to go to my snowboard GS. I was waiting around a long time because I was one of the last ones. Finally I am off and I go flying out of the gate swerving through the gates and ducking at the finish with a time of 54.12. That ended another great day at Mt Buller. I have now finished my races for the 2016 Victorian Interschools and I will definitely be back next year. Race face on Interschools Snowsports for a snowsport family Day 4 Saturday has now arrived and it is time for my brother Will to compete in snowboard GS. He goes flying down the course with a time of 47.28... Well done Will! He is back out at the snowboarderX track and races down the course with a time of 35.11... that is third place and a bronze medal! He also won a silver in the team category with Hudson Streader. So awesome. Next up are my older brothers Ben and Lachie. They have snowboarderX. They go flying down the track and end up with a team ranking of 4th place. Day 5 The next day we are up early again and at the GS course. Both boys compete well and fly down the track. Great job Ben and Lachie. Finally we have our last event for the competition. Ben has slope style...it is the first time in history that they have included this event. Over the jump he goes for a nose grab and a tail grab and sticks the landing perfectly. He ends up with a ranking of fourth place. He also finishes with a Silver team medal with Hudson Fitzgerald. They actually tied for first and lost it in a count back. What a terrific way to end the 2016 Victorian Interschools. I had so much fun and it was another successful year for my family and the 2016 Peninsula School Snow Sports Team. Sophie Watson Year 5
