Positive Psychology at Peninsula grammar

Positive Psychology is the scientific study of how to live a healthy, happy, and meaningful life. Positive Education applies this evidence-based knowledge in practical and relevant ways within a school environment, enabling our students to learn, grow and flourish. In 2018 our Positive Psychology theme at Peninsula Grammar is “Keep Learning”.

Keep learning is relevant for everyone regardless of age:
  • Keep learning encourages students to focus on the process of learning, regardless of whether they receive an A, B, C or D

  • Keep learning encourages staff and parents to continue to learn, grow and develop regardless of their experience and performance

  • Keep learning is one of the New Economics Foundation's '5 Ways to Wellbeing', and connects with the character strength "Love of Learning"

  • Keep learning is active. It reminds us we don't know everything, and there is always more to learn.

Our whole school approach includes embedding best practice across the school, as well as explicit teaching of important skills such as curiosity, emotion regulation, resilience, critical thinking and communication. Our goal is to equip students with a range of strategies they can use in their daily life at school, as well as beyond the gates. The scope and sequence of positive education across Peninsula Grammar ensures age appropriate learning for every student, and ongoing development with relevant life skills.

Our Positive Education department has a library of books available for loan and is available should you have any questions about this field.
